Frequently Asked Questions.
Your first session begins with a brief consultation. We’ll discuss your health history, any current areas of discomfort, and your goals for the session (e.g., pain relief, relaxation, or injury recovery). This ensures your treatment is safe and effective.
Your comfort is always our priority. Most clients undress to their level of comfort, typically leaving on undergarments. You will be professionally draped with a sheet at all times; only the specific area being worked on will be uncovered.
Note: Our Thai Chair Massage is performed fully clothed.
We offer a wide range of massage options, customized to your needs. Our Therapeutic Massage home page has descriptions of each type of massage we offer, with additional links for more information and pricing.
Some types of massage, such as deep tissue or sport massages, may involve firm pressure, but it should never be painful. Always communicate openly with your therapist about how much pressure you are comfortable with.
Massage is a conversation! Whether you prefer a light touch or deeper pressure, our therapists check in throughout the session. If at any point the pressure feels too intense or not deep enough, please speak up. Your feedback helps us provide the best possible care.
Not at all. In fact, Manual Lymphatic Drainage is one of our gentlest services. It uses a very light, rhythmic “skin-stretching” technique. If you are used to deep tissue massage, it may feel like “nothing is happening,” but rest assured—this gentle touch is exactly what is required to move lymph fluid effectively.
Absolutely! We offer specialized Prenatal Massage for those in their second and third trimesters. We use side-lying positioning and supportive pillows to keep you and your baby safe and comfortable. We do recommend checking with your doctor if you have a high-risk pregnancy.
We have a couple of tools (guides) that may be of help. One is based on how you feel (your pain or symptoms) and the other is a straight comparison of the 5 most popular massage types.
To get the most out of your treatment, we recommend:
♦ Hydrate: Drink plenty of water to help your body flush out metabolic waste.
♦ Take it Easy: Avoid strenuous workouts for 24 hours after deep tissue or sports sessions.
♦ Avoid heavy meals the day of your massage.
♦ Listen to your body: You may feel slightly sore the next day (similar to a workout), which is a normal part of the muscle-release process.
We value your time and our therapists’ schedules. We request 24 hours’ notice for any cancellations or rescheduling. This allows us to offer the time slot to another client on our waiting list.
